Plan now to attend four intimate events of the festival where you can get to know the Penn's Woods musicians. Requested by our patrons, these events are designed to enrich your festival experience. Exploring the relationship of Baroque art to jazz music, sipping coffee with musical conversation, dining at an evening salon with a string quartet, or immersing yourself inside the orchestra rehearsal, these unique encounters will surely make your festival memorable.

For adult audiences - Jonathan Dexter and Mark Minnich take audiences on a musical journey, exploring the surprising threads that tie Baroque works to jazz
standards and classical masterpieces to rock & roll.

Penn’s Woods Music 4 U at Barranquero Café

Wednesday, May 23 - 7-8 p.m.
324 E. Calder Way, State College
For adult audiences - Debbie Trudeau (on violin and viola) and Robyn Costa (on oboe and English horn) will share how music goes from page to stage and reveal a behind-the-curtain conversation. With Barranquero’s amazing coffee and snacks, this event is both audible and edible. Coffee and snacks available for purchase.

Penn’s Woods Music 4 U at Webster's Bookstore Café : A Community Salon

Thursday, May 31 - 6 p.m. (dinner) 8 p.m. (concert)
133 E. Beaver Ave., State College
For adult audiences - Webster's and Zeno's Pub host a dinner salon featuring a prix fixe menu of Stuffed Pesto Chicken, Lemon Dill Salmon, or Stuffed Portabella (vg) served with kale salad, roasted vegtables, wild rice pilaf, and dessert. A gluten-free except dessert option of fruit is available. Zeno's Pop Up cash bar will be available. Repertoire includes: Duet for Cello and Double Bass in D Major by Gioacchino Rossini, and String Quartet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 77 by Antonin Dvorak. The performers are Mark Minnich, violin; Hannah Lin, violin; Debbie Trudeau, viola; Charis Lin, cello, and Justin Dorsey, double bass.

Ever wonder what it sounds and feels like to be inside an orchestra? Explore and learn alongside professional musicians how the music gets from the printed page to the stage of Penn's Woods Music Festival. A love of music, a willing ear, and a curious mind will allow you to discover and refine your appreciation for masterpieces of Western music, hence exponentially increasing your enjoyment of the live performances in concert. Recorded and live performance illustrations in class will highlight the summer concerts. Class members are invited to sit inside the orchestra, where you will sit next to your favorite instrument during the PWMF orchestra rehearsal, and discover a whole new visual and sonorous viewpoint! Participants are encouraged to purchase tickets to all four concerts and meet the musicians.
