About the Allegría Ensemble
Founded in 2006, our current group includes five musicians on violin, viola, cello, oboe, and English horn. We perform a wide variety of styles ranging from classical to pop. World premieres and new arrangements keep us fresh. We freelance in Central Pennsylvania as a quartet, trio, or duos. A highlight in 2015 was a full program for our string quartet with jazz pianist Billy Childs and his band.
We are enthusiastic teachers and enjoy sharing our love of music with new listeners. Our outreach programs explore the intersection of music with art, history, world culture, science, and math at venues including libraries, parks, museums, colleges, senior communities, coffee cafés, and distilleries to reach audiences of all ages.
