Penn's Woods Music Festival - Music in the Gardens

Partnering with The Arboretum at Penn State, Penn's Woods Music Festival presents an evening of music performed outdoors within the garden rooms of the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens.

This year's sponsors are Tom and Mary Ellen Litzinger.

Open to the public free of charge.

Come early to begin your exploration of nature's healing force by wandering the garden pathways, drinking in the heady aromas of the summer rose garden, and sitting in quiet meditation pondering the Joel N. Myers Sundial. Between 6:30 and 7:15 p.m., musicians from the Penn's Woods Music Festival will be planted throughout the gardens. Each musician will perform a 10-12-minute selection several times throughout the hour so that you will have the opportunity to move around the gardens and not miss an artist. The music continues until 7:15 p.m. as you walk the garden paths and lose yourself in the serenity of the visual and aural beauty surrounding you.

Meet friends back on the event lawn at 7:15 p.m. for an exciting program featuring the Altoona Brass Collective. This year the musicians performing on the event lawn will again be amplified so that all may enjoy the exquisite music. Blankets and lawn chairs are permitted for this special occasion! You may enter the gardens and place your chair and/or blanket on the lawn and wander the gardens before returning for this exciting concert.

Altoona Brass Collective is a professional brass band in Central Pennsylvania, offering high-quality live performances and promoting excellence in brass! ABC was formed in 2017 by musicians in the central Pennsylvania area sharing a love of brass instruments, quality music, and live performance. These school administrators, music educators, music merchants, studio teachers, performers, and businessmen share a common goal: To bring high- quality live music to central Pennsylvania.
